Star Wars The Last Jedi opens this week. Spoiler Alert…maybe, it is afterall the movies…but Luke Skywalker bids checks out in a fitting tribute to the power of ‘the force’. But how can we forget that this time last year the real time drama and ultimate death of Carrie Fisher was unfolding. The sequence in the movie, almost dream like, where she was blown out of the Resistance vessel and used the force to revive and get herself to the help she needed, was prescient of her real life experience but without the benefit of ‘the force’ Carrie Fisher…Princess Leia left us. Her presence in the film looming large and fighting to the very end to save the Resistance seems metaphorically a tribute, as a reflection of her actual life. Thank you Carrie Fisher for your sense of originality and devil may care attitude toward life.
