Nathaniel Czarnecki
Our featured filmmaker is Nathaniel Czarnecki, a very talented filmmaker from Poland! His father was an award winning photojournalist who worked throughout the world and served as an inspiration for Nathaniel. In 2018, he’s spending time with his father’s colleagues across the US as part of the documentary he is producing and directing about his father’s life. Raised in Poland, he went to undergraduate school at The New School in NYC. He was convinced of it’s efficacy by academic friends of his father and chose The New School over well known schools in NYC and LA.
His award winning short film can be seen here on the itsashort.com platform and is titled a Short Story About Luck. It’s a great representation of his point of view which is very dark humor. Watch the short film to really appreciate his work! Currently he’s working on two short films, again from the dark humor perspective: one about a young women searching for the father she never spent time with but only knew through his letters; and the second, a short film about a soldier sequestered in a foxhole during a war trying to understand whether he is still alive. Both shorts, in addition to the ‘dark humor’ perspective are also based on true stories shared.
Shoutout to our sister blog Tinsel and Tine which is a must read here.
Finally, #metoo and TimesUP…itsashort.com stands for zero tolerance. There will be a lot more fallout before there is movement and change…#staywoke.
